Disaster Relief

Responding when disaster strikes

When disasters occur, Kellogg works with nonprofit partners to provide important nourishment at times when people need it most. We are often among the first to step up to support humanitarian relief efforts around the world, feeding those impacted by refugee crises and natural disasters, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • In early 2022, Kellogg donated $1 million to the United Nations Human Rights Council and Global FoodBanking Network to support Ukraine refugees.
  • In the aftermath of devastating flooding in Kentucky and Missouri in July 2022, Kellogg sent nearly 450,000 servings of food to partner Feeding America to support those affected and help the food banks with their long-term recovery efforts and replenish inventory that has been redirected for the crisis.
  • When Hurricane Ian struck the Caribbean and southeastern U.S. in September 2022, Kellogg worked with community partners to help support victims and relief workers. Convoy of Hope, one of those partners, sent 19 pallets of food to Puerto Rico, including a mix of cereal, Pop-Tarts and Rice Krispies Treats. Feeding America, another partner, sent two truckloads of food – more than 665,000 servings of cereal, Nutri-Grain bars, Rice Krispies Treats, and other snacks – to Florida.
  • In September 2022, Kellogg Canada donated $25,000 to Hurricane Fiona disaster relief in Atlantic Canada and held a Better Days Thanksgiving Food Drive at its office in Mississauga, Ontario. The food donations benefit Daily Bread Food Bank.

After strong earthquakes hit southeastern Turkey and northern Syria in February 2023, Kellogg made a $100,000 donation to our Better Days Promise partner in Turkey, TEGV, supporting wellbeing for children. We also donated $50,000 to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), which has been on the ground in both countries providing life-saving assistance including thermal blankets, mattresses and other core relief item. In addition, our local team donated cereal and granola, along with winter clothing and hygiene items.
