Rings, puffs & flakes: Cereal for breakfast is a great choice to make

A bowl of Kellogg’s® cereal your favorite way to start the day? Great, us too. But with so much conflicting information in media, Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere about food – you may be rethinking reaching for the bowl and spoon at breakfast.

No worries! It’s time to toss out the many myths and misconceptions about cereal – and get the facts on that yummy, crunchy bowl of goodness we all love.

Let’s talk about how Kellogg cereals are made. Many start with wholesome grains, like wheat berries, rice and corn, that are cooked with a handful of ingredients – fewer than five in Mini-Wheats and Corn Flakes, for example. Then we add some vitamins and minerals to help ensure a wholesome start to your day.

And if sugar’s your worry, consider this: 84 percent of Kellogg’s cereals have 10 grams or less per 30 gram serving. Compare that to some fruit-flavored yogurts that can have more than 30 grams of sugar in a serving. Truth is, less than 4 percent of our daily sugar intake comes from cereal.[1]

Some also choose other items like yogurt for breakfast, thinking they’re getting more protein when in fact cereal and milk deliver a powerful combination of protein and grains to help recharge the body.

Bottom line: A bowl of cereal and milk is one of the smartest breakfasts you can choose.

The 4-1-1 on cereal
