Sustainable rice is key ingredient in many Kellogg cereals

It takes a certain grain of rice to create that distinctive Snap! Crackle! and Pop! you hear in every bowl of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies.

And it takes a certain farmer to nurture and care for that rice before it’s harvested for Kellogg’s cereals – and that includes favorites such as Rice Krispies and Special K.

Kellogg partners with farmers in Louisiana since the 1920s to grow rice for our foods. Farmers like Shannon D. – who as a participant in Kellogg’s Master Rice Grower Program are working to ensure their crops are grown more sustainably, including lower water use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Sustainable agriculture is a key part of the company’s global 2020 sustainability commitments. Kellogg’s Master Rice Grower program – in partnership with the Louisiana Rice Mill and the Louisiana State University Agriculture Center – is just one example of how the company works with farmers like Shannon to improve growing practices.
