Kellogg Exec Recognized for Top Women in Grocery honors

It’s no exaggeration to say that the Top Women in Grocery awards program is the equivalent of the Oscars – the most prestigious honors for women in the grocery industry, as chosen by their customers, store owners and peers.

What is remarkable is that, for the second year in a row, Kim Reed is among those recognized in the Senior Level Executive category. Kim is Kellogg’s Senior Vice President, Sales, U.S. Morning Foods.

The awards are sponsored by Progressive Grocer, the leading nationwide journal of the grocery industry, and celebrate the important roles women like Kim serve in their companies, their communities, and the industry at large. In addition to Senior Level Execs, awards go to women in the categories of Rising Stars and Store Managers.

The 2015 Top Women in Grocery winners were included in the June issue of Progressive Grocer, along with the Trailblazer Award, which goes to the food industry executive whose leadership and vision has had the best influence on women in the industry.

In November, rock stars like Kim, along with colleagues, industry luminaries and invited guests will be honored at a gala event in Orlando.

Here, Kim shares her thoughts about the Top Women in Grocery honors:

On what it means to be nominated: “I’m honored to represent Kellogg Company in such a prominent way. The award gives our company great recognition for supporting women at every level within the organization, and supporting the retail partnerships we’ve established in the marketplace.”

On her role at Kellogg: “I’ve just moved into a new role in Morning Foods leading our US sales organization, and expanded my work with retailers like Walmart and Target. It’s a great opportunity to connect with a broader base of retailers.”

On her peers in the industry: “I am proud to work with the extensive base of female executives throughout the grocery industry, retailers and manufacturers alike. I’m especially honored to stand among this year’s recipients for Top Women in Grocery.”

We know there is more we can also do outside our Kellogg family to help end discrimination and intolerance.

That’s why Kellogg Company and our Kellogg Company Fund are committing an additional $1 million to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to support the important work they are doing for racial justice.

As we continue to contend with the stress and life-altering disruptions of COVID-19, we are also faced with recent, tragic events in the news – such as the death of George Floyd and many others -- which are emblematic of the discrimination and intolerance that exists across the world in so many heart-breaking ways.
