Most of us take breakfast for granted - cereal, milk, out the door and we're ready for the day. The power of breakfast is amazing, but unfortunately not everyone has equal access. Too many children arrive at school hungry and unable to focus on their studies.
In Queretaro, Mexico, for example, the KelloggBreakfasts for Better Days™ initiative supports a school breakfast program for impoverished kids - and we've seen the results firsthand!
Teachers report improved academic performance. One mom told us breakfast changed her children's lives. "They were always tired after walking to school," she says. "Now, they are healthier, energetic, and happier - all because this breakfast program gives them a better start to their day."
And the program in Queretaro is just one example of the many breakfast programs and clubs we support around the world.
We're spotlighting our hunger relief efforts today because it's World Food Day - established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, to bring attention to the one in eight people across the globe facing food insecurity every day.
Last year, in support of World Food Day, Kellogg Company and the Kellogg workforce in 28 countries around the world donated nearly 100,000 pounds of food and volunteered with 94 community programs, through Breakfasts for Better Days™. This year, we're on our way to exceeding these totals.
