ROSELAND, N.J. July 24, 2014 ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, today announced that Comprehensive Logistics Inc., a premier provider of highly efficient, engineered logistics services for complex supply chains, has awarded the company a contract to deliver an integrated HCM solution based on ADP Vantage HCM®.
Comprehensive Logistics, a new client to ADP, signed on for payroll, benefits, HR, and time and labor management as part of its flexible deployment of ADP Vantage HCM. The company is involved in critical "just-in-time, just-in-sequence" material flow and pre-assembly work for the U.S. auto industry, including brakes, radiators, roof assemblies, match-painted mirrors and more. Their finished products are delivered to auto manufacturers and relied upon for the timely construction of thousands of autos daily. The company also has diversified with recent moves into transportation management services and recent wins in industries outside of the automobile sector.
Stephen Halloran, director of HR for privately owned Comprehensive Logistics, said the company was drawn by ADP's combination of technology and process expertise in making its decision.
"The service layer ADP delivers was very important to us," said Halloran. "If we didn't have that, we'd have to add an empire of HR professionals, and that wasn't realistic. I wanted well-trained HR professionals and needed these people ready to hit the ground running, so if we have an issue, we can get it addressed in real time. I've gotten that with ADP."
"We're pleased that Comprehensive Logistics is trusting us with this most critical role that focuses on the people who help them succeed," said Mark Benjamin, President of Global Enterprise Solutions at ADP. "Comprehensive Logistics plays a critical part in today's complicated global auto industry. I'm delighted that, once again, a client as important as Comprehensive Logistics has chosen our service expertise and proven technology to help drive their success."
Halloran said the employee mix that contributes to his company's success required a partner with the insights and skills needed to ensure timely and efficient distribution of information and of critical payroll. Comprehensive Logistics has a combination of hourly and managerial employees in eighteen facilities in Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario, Canada. The company also plans to launch new operations in Tennessee and Illinois.
"We are a fourth-generation company, with a heritage of trying to 'do the right thing' by our employees," Halloran said. "So we needed a solution that made sense for the company, and for the more than 1,400 people who work here.
"With our prior vendor, we saw lots of turnover on the client-facing team and not a lot of strategic direction that helped us continuously improve," Halloran said. "Now, with ADP, I like how we have a dedicated service team. Our ability to scale our business with ADP is great."
Halloran said ADP's expertise in the complicated area of compliance also contributed to his decision.
"The Affordable Care Act is a great example," he said. "That weighed heavily on our decision, along with dependent verification service and tax credit services. A lot of arrows get fired toward my team on any given day. Now, we have the technology and expertise to bat them down with our partners."
Halloran said the single platform and integrated solution that are part of ADP Vantage HCM also weighed into the decision. "I prefer to think that we have one hand to shake for a job well done," he said. "ADP has become a good business partner with us."
