Wounded Warrior Project to Help Houston Veterans File Benefits Claims

Warriors to Receive Face-to-Face Meetings with VA Representatives

HOUSTON, Nov. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Veterans with service-related health issues can receive instant relief as Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) holds a Benefits Claims Day from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm at Combined Arms in Houston. This innovative gathering helps warriors quickly obtain needed care by placing them face-to-face with a WWP staff member and a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) representative, who directly impacts the outcome of medical claims.

Veterans are invited to the Houston Benefits Claims Day from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm, Dec. 3, at Combined Arms.

With long-term financial and health support playing a critical, empowering role in the recovery process, WWP created the Benefits Service program, helping injured veterans navigate the complexities of the Department of Defense and VA. With the support of generous donors, WWP reaches out to local communities through a variety of events, filing thousands of claims each year and immediately changing the lives of injured veterans, their families, and caregivers. Benefits Claims Day is one of the events gaining traction across the nation as an innovative collaboration between WWP and VA.

"Wounded Warrior Project is breaking through organizational boundaries and putting injured veterans first," said Ryan Pavlu, national service director of WWP Benefits Service. "For this event, WWP has teamed up with multiple organizations, including Lone Star Veterans Association, The Mission Continues, NextOp, Grace After Fire, and more, to ensure warriors are connected to a variety of resources that will strengthen their journeys to recovery. Our resilient warriors are able to reach their goals when given a chance and the right tools."

As a VA-accredited organization, WWP works individually with warriors to understand their unique needs, provide information and education on the claims process, advise them of benefit options, file benefit claims, and help obtain necessary evidence. The staff stays connected with these injured veterans through the entire claims life cycle.

The success of the WWP Benefits Service program lies in its efforts to ensure claims are filed and processed correctly – the first time.
