LOS ANGELES—Wilmington Trust hired Irene Kung as a senior investment advisor in its Los Angeles Wealth Advisory office. Kung is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for clients based on their unique parameters for risk, return, liquidity, and other factors.
Kung has more than 20 years of experience in the investment management industry. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, she launched the Investment Management function at City of Hope, a nonprofit cancer research hospital based in Duarte, Calif. Kung provided portfolio management and oversight of City of Hope’s $2.6 billion endowment portfolio—directing portfolio construction, due diligence, manager selection, and risk management. During her nine years in the role, the portfolio grew sixfold in size and invested across traditional and alternative asset classes.
Earlier in her career, Kung served as a senior research analyst at Transamerica Investment Management, where she analyzed senior loans, investment grade and high-yield bonds, and convertible securities. While working at hedge fund firms, she focused on convertible arbitrage, capital-structure arbitrage, and event-driven strategies.
Kung earned an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. She attained both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and CPA certifications, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
She is based out of Wilmington Trust’s office located at 10250 Constellation Blvd., Suite 2800 in Los Angeles, and can be contacted at 310-300-3055.
