Based in the Los Angeles office, Oard will lead expansion of wealth services throughout Western United States
LOS ANGELES—Wilmington Trust has appointed Brian Oard as president of the Western Region for Wealth Advisory. Based in the company’s Los Angeles office, he will lead the expansion of Wilmington Trust’s wealth management services throughout the Western United States.
A seasoned wealth management executive, Oard has over two decades of experience helping clients with issues such as investment management, risk management, business succession and retirement planning. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, he was senior wealth strategist for Northern Trust. Before that, he was a senior director at BNY Mellon Wealth Management.
Additionally, Oard was previously an adjunct professor at California Lutheran University, where he taught employee benefits and retirement planning for their CFP certification program.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California at Davis. He also received the CFP® designation from the CFP Board in 1999.
Oard served as U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer, and was awarded the Naval Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device for action during Operation Desert Storm. He also took part in humanitarian relief operations during Operation Restore Hope in Somalia in 1993.
He currently serves on the Scarlet and Gold Committee of the West Coast Gala for the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. He is also a member of the executive board of the Veteran’s Park Conservancy, which is a support organization of the National Cemetery and Veteran Affairs property in Westwood, Calif.
