WHISTLER, BC January 10, 2017 – For the sixth year in a row, Whistler Blackcomb has been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People. The annual competition, judged by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, recognizes employers offering the nation's best workplaces and programs for young people. Organizations honoured are chosen based on the availability of benefits, training, mentorship, co-op or work-study programs and the ability to attract and retain younger employees.
“One of our goals when hiring young people is to ensure they have a chance to grow within our organization,” says Joel Chevalier, Vice President of Employee Experience at Whistler Blackcomb. “We want the training we offer to help our young employees develop skills they can use throughout their careers with us and beyond. We take our role as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People seriously and want all of our employees to feel valued and at home within our company.”
Whistler Blackcomb travels across Canada working with high schools, universities, colleges and local First Nations communities to place students in positions throughout the organization. One department in particular that is seeing growth is the culinary program developed by Whistler Blackcomb’s Executive Chef and Recruiting department. The goal is to have three apprentices in each level of the program, every year, in an effort to grow talent from within the Whistler Blackcomb organization.
