Hyatt Place Keystone, the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Keystone, Colo., is officially open. The new hotel features the Hyatt Place brand’s intuitive design, casual atmosphere and practical amenities, such as free Wi-Fi and 24-hour food offerings. Hyatt Place Keystone is owned by Realty Capital Partners and operated by Vail Resorts.

Today, Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) announced that Chief Executive Officer Rob Katz and his wife, Elana Amsterdam, have decided that the initial focus for their recently announced charitable fund will be on mental health issues in the Company’s local communities. Katz and Amsterdam created the new charitable fund in October 2017 with funding of approximately $58 million.

Both Breckenridge Ski Resort and Keystone Resort continue to expand terrain, as each resort has opened additional trails every week since Opening Day. Both resorts are offering top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding across multiple peaks prior to the holidays, and will be adding more terrain heading into this weekend. This morning, a brief burst of snow quickly brought two inches of snow to both resorts with additional snow in the forecast through the weekend.

The Arrabelle at Vail Square, A RockResort, will celebrate the property’s 10th anniversary on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017. The public celebration in Lionshead Village will include an ice skating show, live music and an ice carving exhibition. Following the outdoor event, a 10th anniversary celebration dinner will take place inside the hotel.

In early January, the Arvada location of Colorado Ski & Golf will be moving to a new location at 9170 Wadsworth Parkway in Westminster. This new space, which will be shared with the existing Bicycle Village, will also be receiving an updated moniker – Colorado Ski & Sports.

Mt. Brighton opened for business on Saturday, Dec. 8, sending the first chairlift of skiers – Brighton’s Jim Needham and Matt Widdick – up to the top of Metro Detroit’s popular winter sports destination.

Wilmot Mountain, a long-time favorite Midwest ski destination, announced today its opening date of Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017. In addition to welcoming guests back to the ski slopes, Wilmot Mountain is celebrating its 80th anniversary season with even more improvements and new events.

Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) today announced that the Company plans to make an historic investment of CAD$66 million (USD$52 million) at Whistler Blackcomb this season focusing on three new lifts at the heart of the resort. This transformative investment features the addition of a new gondola on the Blackcomb side of the mountain, as well as several other lift infrastructure upgrades, providing quicker, easier access to all levels of terrain. The plan also represents the largest single-year capital investment program in the resort’s history, and the Company’s decision to accelerate the mountain improvements included in the Renaissance plan, while deferring consideration of the new water park.
