(Richmond Hill, ON): With its blend of sports car verve and SUV practicality, the 2008 Mazda CX-7 is a true “crossover” vehicle. As the sportiest member of Mazda’s family of SUVs, the Mazda CX-7 crossover utility vehicle breaks the traditional utility vehicle mold with its sporty styling and turbo-charged engine. Built entirely on Mazda-derived platform architecture, the CX-7 has comfortable seating for five occupants and plenty of cargo space. The rear seat not only carries three passengers in comfort, it also splits and folds 60:40 to increase cargo capacity and versatility. At 1,758 mm, the CX-7 has a cargo floor that is significantly longer than competitive models. Even with the rear seats in use, the cargo length is an impressive 1,013 mm. Two drivelines are offered on the 2008 CX-7: Front-Wheel Drive or Mazda’s Active Torque-Split All-Wheel Drive. The latter system uses a computer-controlled coupling integrated with the rear differential to deliver up to half the available torque to the rear wheels on demand. The 2008 CX-7 is offered in two trim grades: GS and GT. Both trim grades are powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder MZR DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) turbo engine that produces an enthusiastic 244 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258-lb. ft of torque @ 2,500 rpm. A sixspeed Sport
mode automatic transmission provides full manual control.
All-wheel-drive and power moonroof are the only options available on the GS model. The GT edition adds leather trimmed seating, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a retractable cargo cover, Xenon (HID) headlamps, fog lamps, body-colour mirrors, chrome door handles, automatic interior climate control, power moonroof with onetouch open and close feature, and electroluminescent gauges with indirect blue lighting. In addition, GT trim grade buyers may choose a “Luxury Package” option package that includes a Bose® premium sound system package that includes nine speakers, approximately 240 watts of amplification, a six-disc CD changer, AudioPilot® noise compensation technology system, and Centerpoint® surround-sound system that offers five-channel digital imaging to create a true premium audio entertainment. Another convenient feature incorporated in the optional “Luxury” package is the Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System. To further support driving pleasure and convenience, a touch-screen DVD-based navigation system with MP3 capability, voice commands, and a rear-view camera system is available as an option. Among the many standard features on the 2008 CX-7 is a 3-year roadside assistance program. Customers can feel secure knowing that wherever they travel throughout North America should the need arise they can obtain towing, winching, battery boosting, emergency fuel delivery, and tire changing services. They will even get help if locked out of the vehicle. Travel planning services and emergency travel expense reimbursement are included in the roadside assistance program. The 2008 CX-7 is covered by a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle warranty that covers every part of the vehicle except those subject to normal wear. Additional warranties cover powertrain and safety restraint components for a period of 5 years or 100,000 km, body sheet metal perforation for 5 years unlimited kilometres and selected emission control components for 8 years or 128,000 km.
