– Canadian debut of the first-ever Mazda CX-30 –
2020 Mazda CX-30
Following its North American premiere at the Los Angeles auto show in November 2019, the first-ever Mazda CX-30 will make its Canadian debut – and only the second North American auto show appearance – at the Montréal International Auto Show on January 16, 2020.
Following the launch of the all-new Mazda3 at the Montréal International Auto Show one year ago, the first-ever Mazda CX-30 is the second model in a new generation of Mazda cars that offer refined quality in every area. CX-30 was developed to create an entirely new design for a compact crossover. Based on the ‘Sleek & Bold’ design concept, its proportions combine the toughness of an SUV with a supple, flowing beauty that transcends the category. Body surfaces provide rich, unlimited impressions that change from moment to moment. And the highly refined cabin is marked by the fusion of a comfortably snug feel and an airy, spacious atmosphere, enabling all occupants to enjoy a feeling of connection as well as relaxing comfort. Every single aspect of the design enhances CX-30s impressive personality, stimulating customers’ sensibilities every time they look at or touch the car.
The CX-30’s excellent driving attributes and advanced safety equipment offer peace of mind, allowing the driver and passengers to relax and enjoy the drive. The driving position, seats, visibility and outstanding operability, together with dynamic performance that’s centered on the new Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture and tuned to match human sensibilities, combine to offer a natural and confidence-inspiring driving feel and a sense of unity as if the car and driver are operating in synchronicity. Just in case, updated i-Activsense features are there to back up the driver at all times. The powertrain lineup consists of the latest Skyactiv-G engines, which enable responsive control of speed in any driving situation. In addition, Mazda’s proactive all-wheel-drive system, which already achieved excellent dynamic and environmental performance, now works cooperatively with G-Vectoring Control to inspire confidence in any road conditions. The full package delivers peace of mind that allows everyone on board to relax and enjoy the ride and high-quality driving pleasure that keeps drivers endlessly engaged behind the wheel.
The 2020 Mazda CX-30 will be available in Canada with a choice of two Skyactiv-G engines, 2.0L or 2.5L. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and Mazda’s proactive i-Activ all-wheel drive system is available on every trim level. The CX-30 MSRP starts at $23,950, and will be on sale starting in January 2020.
2020 Mazda CX-5
The 2020 Mazda CX-5 receives numerous refinements at every trim level, from performance upgrades to more available safety features. Mazda engineers have also improved the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) of the CX-5 to further reduce road noise for an even more peaceful ride.
The CX-5 GX is far from entry-level thanks to the many standard features occupants can enjoy. The premium ownership experience starts with the keys, in line with Mazda’s upscale movement, a new key fob design opens the doors using a remote keyless entry system. Subtle, yet sophisticated; the font is updated throughout the vehicle, from the badging and gauge display to the owner’s manual. Small attention to detail that together helps create a unique atmosphere. The 2020 CX-5 is standard with front-wheel drive and available with i-Activ all-wheel drive. Other standard features include G-Vectoring Control Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, electronic parking brake, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, two front USB inputs, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio, rearview camera, LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, push button start and power windows with one-touch automatic up/down function.
In the GS trim, the seven-inch full-colour, touchscreen display with Mazda ConnectTM receives a new Cylinder Deactivation System display, which will help show the fuel efficiency of the four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.5 engine. This naturally aspirated engine is rated to deliver 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque on either regular (87 octane) or premium (93 octane) fuel and is equipped with a quick-shifting, six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift and sport modes. New to the GT grade, the driver can feel even more connected to the CX-5 with new paddle shifters, available with the Skyactiv-G 2.5T engine. When equipped with this turbocharged engine, drivers can appreciate an extra boost of torque, with a total of 320 lb-ft of torque now available when using 93 octane fuel. Further refinements to the engine include a new Engine Harmonics Enhancer that tunes to the engine with a much more refined and powerful sound, while the emission regulation has been improved to ULEV70. Another all-new feature on the 2020 CX-5 is off-road traction assist, which replaces the traction control button and can potentially help the driver when adventuring on uneven terrain. When the diagonal wheels lose traction, off-road traction assist will stop reducing the engine torque and increase the brake force on the wheels without traction. This transfers power to the wheels still on the ground to help allow the vehicle to regain traction and continue the drive.
For the uppermost trim, the CX-5 Signature includes all of the premium features mentioned and adds an uncompromising level of styling and convenience. New for 2020, the CX-5 Signature also includes a 360° View Monitor and front and rear parking sensors.
2020 Mazda CX-9
The brand's flagship midsize crossover SUV receives numerous updates for 2020 that focus on elevating the premium Mazda ownership experience. The well-appointed interior extends a rich feeling to each of the three rows, creating a sense of sophistication for all occupants. Available all-new captain's chairs help provide passengers a prestigious, first-class cabin feel. The hands-free, power liftgate is another new prominent feature on CX-9 GT and Signature trim levels that offers refinement and ease when loading cargo.
The performance of the 2020 CX-9 has also been enhanced. The turbocharged Skyactiv-G 2.5T engine equipped on all CX-9 models now delivers a robust 320 lb-ft of torque on 93 octane gasoline (310 lb-ft of torque on 87 octane gasoline); an increase of 10 lb-ft of torque on the outgoing model year. The turbocharged engine is rated to deliver up to 250 horsepower on 93 octane gasoline (227 horsepower on 87 octane gasoline) and is paired with a quick-shifting, six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission. Mazda's predictive i-Activ all-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels of the 2020 CX-9.
The 2020 CX-9 is the first Mazda vehicle offered with an all-new off-road traction assist feature. Replacing the traction control button, this feature can potentially help the driver when adventuring on uneven terrain. When the diagonal wheels lose traction, off-road traction assist will stop reducing the engine torque and increases the brake force on the wheels without traction. This transfers power to the wheels still on the ground to help allow the vehicle to regain traction and continue the drive. G-Vectoring Control Plus is also standard for 2020 and further improves the steering response to help the driver and all occupants have a smooth, premium driving experience.
The complete Mazda lineup will be on display at the 2020 Montréal International Auto Show, including the 2020 Mazda3 and Mazda3 Sport, Mazda6, MX-5 and MX-5 RF, CX-3, CX-30, CX-5, and CX-9.
