Medio Systems worked with IBM to deploy 230 IBM System x servers powered by intelligent Intel Xeon processors running Apache Hadoop and Linux to offer its predictive analytics solution in a distributed, cloud-based environment. This software and hardware solution is purpose-built for the wireless application and smart device industry.

"With IBM's support, we will continue to provide best-of-breed predictive analytics solutions that allow our partners to take data-driven actions that optimize revenue and increase customer engagement," says Medio CEO Rob Lilleness. "We're already seeing the benefits from this new partnership and look forward to extending our industry reach. Our scalable data-driven business is built on IBM's smarter hardware and software, systems and services."

Medio is a pioneer in the confluence of Big Data and mobile predictive analytics. The mission of the company is to use technology to transform consumer data into real-time business action. Today, on average Medio analyzes information from over 15 million unique monthly users within its database of 90-million. Medio has developed proprietary algorithms designed to enhance consumer engagement, retention and monetization. It accomplishes this by gathering real-time user data, location information and combining it with its vast mobile consumer behavior models.

The new IBM solution is anchored by fully redundant, multi-tiered data centers in Seattle, WA and Atlanta, GA. The current infrastructure supports Medio's 90 million users, but is designed to scale to 500 million users when necessary by adding additional hardware. After implementing the IBM solution, the time required to analyze customer responses declined by a factor of 12, down to 75 milliseconds. Along with this increase in processing speed, the number of transactions per second also increased to 1,200 per datacenter, a 30-fold improvement. Moreover, Medio was also able to maintain 100 percent system availability. The data centers are powered by IBM System x 3650, 3550 and 3250 class systems.
