Air Canada Vacations (ACV) has partnered with Montreal’s Ferreira Group, a group of local modern Portuguese restaurants, to bring travel and Portuguese food together in food-centric vacations. Ferreira Group’s web series, Portugal Gourmand, created to share their love for Portuguese food and foster an appreciation for local ingredients, inspired the Air Canada Vacations team to collaborate with the restauranteurs to create gastronomy vacations.
To mark the occasion, the Ferreira family and Air Canada Vacations hosted an event for media and travel writers to get a taste for the experience.
“We’ve noted that more and more travellers are searching for authentic experiences,” said Selma Filali, Senior Director, Marketing and E-Commerce at Air Canada Vacations. “Through the combination of the Ferreira family’s deep understanding of Portuguese gastronomy and our goal of creating life-affirming memories for our customers, we’re able to bring travellers on a journey through Portugal to discover its gems and satisfy their desire to truly live like locals.”
Founder Carlos Ferreira, and his daughters Sandra and Claudia, handpicked itineraries and food-centred experiences that would tantalize the taste buds.
“We are very excited about our partnership with Air Canada Vacations. You can now travel to Portugal and take part in one of two distinct food-centric vacations. Upon arriving, all you will have to do is hit the road and follow the gastronomic escape planned for you,” said Sandra Ferreira, Operations Director at Ferreira Group. “Whether it’s a cooking workshop in Faro, a kayak tour in Lagos, or taking a Tuk Tuk through Lisbon from one yummy stop to the next, it’s food-centric escape you’ll never, ever forget!”
The packages, Tastes of Northern Portugal and Flavours of Portugal include: airfare, hotel accommodations, a rental car, activities as well as 11 or 12 meals depending on the chosen itinerary and two gastronomic experiences.
Air Canada offers weekly flights from Canada to Portugal, including: six direct flights per week from Toronto Pearson to Lisbon and four flights per week to Porto, as well as three seasonal flights per week from Montreal to Lisbon.
