Warriors to Work: An Employment Guide from Wounded Warrior Project

By Michael Loubert - Warriors to Work Regional Director, Wounded Warrior Project

When veterans return to civilian life after serving in the military, finding work is often a challenge. However, warriors registered with Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) can get assistance through a veterans’ employment program called Warriors to Work®. What can this free service provide for wounded warriors?

Help with Your Career Goals

After serving in the military, you leave with more skills than you walked in with. Sometimes it might not be clear what those skills are or even what kind of civilian career you could use them in. WWP will dig deeper into your work history and help explain those skills and the fields in which they can be used.

Opportunities to Make Your Resume the Best It Can Be

Every resume can be improved, and WWP specialists will work with you to ensure that your resume is clean, professional, and stands out to a prospective employer.

Assistance to Nail the Interview

WWP will identify areas where you might need improvement. This could include knowing how to respond to commonly asked questions, tips for dressing for success, and even what you can do with your posture or speaking style to be your most confident self.

A Chance to Get Connected at Job Fairs and Networking Events

Job fairs are excellent opportunities for you to meet with hiring managers, ask questions, and gather important resources that can help you focus your job search. WWP will help you get plugged in with representatives who can provide information about potential career opportunities.

Getting Employers to Help You Find Job Placements

WWP supports employers by helping them connect with qualified veteran candidates, providing information about combat-related injuries (such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury), and developing a long-lasting relationship throughout the life cycle of employment.
