McCarthy joined M&T Bank in 2004, and provides comprehensive wealth management advice to high-net-worth individuals and families, business owners, entrepreneurs, and foundations and endowments.
McCarthy is a native of Wilkes-Barre and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Villanova University. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ and a member of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. He is a non-practicing certified public accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. McCarthy maintains his FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses as well as his Pennsylvania life, accident, and health licenses.
His team has expertise in planning, trust, investment management, and private banking services. They work closely with clients to develop financial strategies that help clients meet their current needs and plan for their long-term objectives.

Also joining the team is John Helinski, senior investment advisor, who is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for his clients to meet their evolving needs and to take advantage of new investment opportunities. He has more than three decades of experience in financial services, specializing in investment management and fiduciary services.
Helinski holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from King’s College and is a graduate of Leadership Wilkes-Barre. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities licenses as well as his Pennsylvania insurance license for life, fixed annuities, accident, health, variable life, and variable annuities.
Private Banker Donna Patton provides strategic advice, personalized service, and access to a comprehensive array of banking and custom credit solutions for clients. Patton coordinates with McCarthy to offer a wide range of specialized services to her clients including investment management, planning, brokerage, insurance, family governance, and family office services to.
Patton has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry, specializing in retail banking. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Wilkes University, and holds her FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities licenses, as well as her life, accident, health, and annuities licenses.
Ashlee Selenski, investment associate, is responsible for developing customized investment portfolios for clients based on their personal and financial needs for risk, return, and liquidity. Selenski joined M&T Bank’s investment group in 2007. She received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Temple University and holds FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities licenses.
Rounding out the Wilkes-Barre team is Nina Deno, who will serve as administrative assistant for the office.
