Wilmington Trust Expands Wealth Advisory Services for New Jersey Market
Investment Management Veteran Fernando Garip Picked to Lead Team
Wilmington Trust is announcing a significant expansion of its Wealth Advisory team in the New Jersey market. The eight-person team is comprised of wealth and investment management professionals, and is headed by Fernando Garip, an investment veteran in the New York metropolitan area.
 
While Wilmington Trust has provided wealth management services to high-net-worth individuals and families in New Jersey for decades, this expansion will enable Wilmington Trust to deliver comprehensive wealth and investment services more effectively to New Jersey clients. Wilmington Trust has been headquartered in nearby Wilmington, Del. since its founding in 1903 by T. Coleman DuPont. Today, Wilmington Trust is one of the nation’s premier wealth management firms.

The New Jersey team is split between offices in Saddle Brook and Princeton. In addition to Garip, the other team members in the Saddle Brook office are:

Fernando Garip
Garip is president of the New Jersey market for Wilmington Trust, and has more than 30 years of experience in asset and wealth management. Before joining Wilmington Trust, Garip was regional director for TD Wealth, based in the New York metropolitan market, where he managed portfolio managers from New York to Florida. Previously, he was chief investment officer and director for Commerce Asset Management, and held senior positions at other New Jersey banking institutions over the course of his career.
 
Garip earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, and graduated from the Executive Management Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. In the community, he serves as Planning Board chair for Hackensack, N.J., and as Planning Board member for Bergen County, N.J. Tim Wade
Wade has more than 25 years’ experience in the financial industry. Before joining the Wilmington Trust team, he was a portfolio manager for TD Wealth Management since 2003. He held previous positions at Pitcairn Financial, as an investment manager, and at BNY Mellon and CoreStates Bank.

John Trobiano
Trobiano comes to Wilmington Trust from TD Bank, where he was senior vice president. Previously he was a senior vice president with Independence Community Bank. Earlier in his career, Trobiano worked for Summit Bank and Midlantic National Bank.
 
Trobiano received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University. He currently serves as treasurer of the Bergen County Bar Association, and is a board member of the Bergen Community College Foundation and serves on the NJ District IIB Legal Ethics Committee. Julie Burmeister
Burmeister has worked in the financial field for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Wilmington Trust, she was employed by TD Bank as a client associate for six years. Before that, she worked for Sovereign Bank and Summit Bank.

Michael Huxley

Susan Mistretta
For more than 30 years, Mistretta has worked in various investment management and sales positions. She joins Wilmington Trust from TD Bank, where she was a financial analyst since 2004. She started her career at United Jersey Bank.

Robert Brown
Brown joined Wilmington Trust in 2008, based in their Princeton office. He has more than two decades of financial services experience. Previously, he was senior vice president at Bank of America. Brown started his career in commercial credit at First Fidelity Bank.

Robert Gelsi
Gelsi joined Wilmington Trust in 2006, based in their Princeton office. Before joining the company, he was senior trust advisor at Wachovia. He has more than 20 years of experience in financial services, specializing in tax and estate planning, business succession, and investment services.
