Whistler Blackcomb Summer 2025 Tip Sheet

THE WHISTLER BLACKCOMB SUMMER EXPERIENCE

From the ancient, volcanic peaks with 360-degree mountaintop views, to our vibrant and sophisticated village with incredible vibes, Whistler Blackcomb has summer covered from top to bottom. Travel across British Columbia’s rooftop on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola (P2P), explore more than 50 kms of high alpine hiking trails, head to the valley for a bike ride on Whistler’s paved valley trail, or explore a seemingly endless single-track network of trails in the world-famous Whistler Mountain Bike Park. SHARED TERRIRTORIES: LIL’WAT NATION AND SQUAMISH NATION

Whistler Blackcomb operates on the unceded territories of the Lil'wat Nation and Squamish Nation who have lived on these lands since time immemorial. Our team has deep gratitude for the opportunity to live and work in this beautiful place, colonially known as Whistler. This is a gift that is shared with both the Lil̓wat7úl and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh. We encourage all guests of the resort to visit our friends at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) this summer for an opportunity to respectfully learn about these lands, their people and culture.

Transport yourself to an otherworldly destination through Whistler Blackcomb’s Summer Alpine Experience. Highlights include:

  • PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola: Spanning the distance between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, this record-breaking gondola provides an unparalleled perspective of British Columbia's rooftop and incomparable views of towering volcanic peaks, coastal rainforests, and ancient glaciers. Available June 14 onward. Returning this summer – artists from the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation have transformed two gondola cabins into one-of-a-kind works of art that celebrate their cultures, creating a message of inclusion for all to come to the mountains we love. This is Epic for Everyone.
  • Snow Walls: Massive towering corridors of snow above Pika’s Traverse on Whistler Mountain. A must-see in late spring into early summer. They don’t last forever, so experience them before they melt.
  • Cloudraker Skybridge and Raven’s Eye: Access Cloudraker Skybridge – a high-alpine walking bridge spanning 130m from Whistler Peak to the West Ridge, crossing high above Whistler Bowl. On the other side, Raven's Eye Lookout offers a viewing platform with 360° views from Whistler’s Peak. Targeting mid-June opening via the Peak Express chairlift.
  • Open Air Chairlift / Top of the World: A season pass (including a 2025/26 Epic Pass) or ticket also comes with rides on the Peak Express chairlift. Guests can use this lift to gain access to the incredible Top of the World summit experience on Whistler Mountain. Jaw-dropping views of the surrounding Coast Mountains await, including the iconic Black Tusk, the Tantalus Range, Castle Towers, and more. These ancient peaks were formed from prehistoric volcanic activity and today they stand majestically on-guard as the thrones of this region. No other place displays the alpine like the Top of the World summit does, making this journey a must-do for all ability levels. To ride the Peak Express, guests must be 40” (3.3 feet or 1 M) or taller and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Children must be taller than 40” and 12 years or older to ride alone.
  • Hiking & Trail Running: Ride our chairlifts and gondolas to access recreation trails that wind through a volcanic landscape surrounded by jaw-dropping vistas, ancient glaciers, alpine lakes, and wildflower-filled slopes. In the height of summer, there are more than 50km of trails to access for hiking and trail running.
  • Wildflowers: In mid-summer, the hills of Whistler come alive when the alpine snow melts and thousands of vibrant wildflowers bloom. Typically, this happens near the end of July and wildflowers will stick around until mid-August – a must see for those visiting this time of year.

For the best value, buy a Summer Alpine Experience Pass or 2025/26 Epic Pass (on sale now) for unlimited PEAK 2 PEAK access and sightseeing all summer long.

WHISTLER MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK

At Whistler Mountain Bike Park (WMBP), we offer more than 100 expertly crafted trails spread throughout four distinct mountain zones and are proud to be the biggest bike park in North America. Riders will find there’s plenty of fun to be had with exciting trails designed for every level and ability. Here’s what you need to know for the 2025 season:

  • Fitzsimmons Express: Last year, the new Fitsimmons Express 8-seater chairlift provided improved uphill capacity, with the ability to transport riders and bikes on the same chair. This was a gamechanger for WMBP guests looking to quickly access the popular Fitz Zone. Newly expanded trails will be coming to the Fitsimmons Zone.

It’s recommended for intermediate to expert riders looking to cruise along cascading creeks and through lush, green forests – all accessed by the upgraded 10-person Creekside Gondola. Newly expanded trails will be coming to the Creekside Zone.
  • Trail Orientation/Progression Guide: Knowing which trail to ride next has now been made clear with the Trail Progression Scale. This handy tool separates technical and freeride trails and lists them from Beginner to Pro Line in the correct order of difficulty.
  • Bike Park Trail Map: Explore our riding zones and every trail in the bike park with our trail map. View our Trail Progression Matrix to know which trail you should ride next based on your riding ability. (2025 trail maps coming soon.)

CONNECT WITH ICONIC CANADIAN WILDLIFE

Did you know 50 black bears and cubs reside on Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains? They have adapted to feeding, mating, and hibernating within ski area habitats. This is the only population of black bears in B.C. that has been studied for over two decades! Come view them from a safe distance on one of our private bear viewing tours. Learn how conservation and enhancement initiatives help to sustain healthy bear populations, and how mountain resorts are continually redesigning recreational experiences to ensure a sustainable future.

Whistler hosts a wide variety of events each year – both on and off the mountains. We’re excited to see these return for the 2025 summer. Some major things to look out for are the opening of Whistler Mountain Bike Park on May 16, Crankworx Whistler (August 8-17), the return of weekly Phat Wednesdays presented by Kokanee, the Whistler Summer Concert Series, and so much more. GUIDED MOUNTAINTOP ADVENTURES AWAIT

Mountain Skills Academy & Adventures offers a variety of guided walks and hikes on Whistler Mountain, as well as rock climbing and glacier tours. Guests can choose from a variety of offerings, including:

  • Via Ferrata: Whistler’s ultimate mountaintop adventure! Challenge yourself to climb up a vertical pathway of steel rungs to the peak of Whistler Mountain. “Via Ferrata” is Italian for “Iron Way” and is a route with ladder-like rungs permanently fixed to the rock. You are securely harnessed to steel safety cables while you climb to the top of Whistler Peak! No climbing experience is needed, just moderate fitness. This is our top-rated tour. Don't miss it!
  • Glacier Glissading: Have you experienced the thrill of sliding down snow in the summer? On the Glacier Glissading tour, guests slide down the glacier using the fun mountaineering skill called glissading. The 15,000-thousand-year-old alpine glacier is just a short walk from the Whistler Gondola through some stunning alpine terrain. This tour includes all the interpretive aspects of our Glacier Discovery Tour plus Glissading. You get two tours in one!
  • Whistler Sky Walk: This summer, take a walk on the snow and ice atop Whistler Mountain while taking in the natural landscape sculpted by ancient ice! Along the way, you will travel back 10,000 years to learn about the formation of the Coast Mountains glaciers. After the gondola ride to the top of Whistler Mountain, the guide will give you a helmet and harness to wear. The group hikes to the cabled portion of the tour, where everyone clips into the safety cable to enjoy the amazing views high above Whistler. The hike gradually continues up along the cliff edge and crosses small bridges and ramps.
  • Rock Climbing: This very popular half-day tour is designed for individuals or groups looking for a fun-filled morning or afternoon of single pitch, top roped climbing. Our experienced guides will set everything up and provide helpful hints along the way. No climbing experience is necessary.
