Keystone Resort 2025 Summer Tip Sheet

At 9,280 feet above sea-level in Summit County, Colo. and just a quick and scenic drive from Denver, Keystone Resort is the perfect place for families to beat the heat and chill out in true high-country style. Offering tons of fun and one-of-a-kind experiences for all ages, there's plenty of opportunity to find connection, adrenaline, relaxation, and everything in between. From rowdy downhill bike park laps to playing 18 holes at one of two world-class golf courses, to rocking out to live music during a signature festival weekend, summer is primetime to experience all Keystone has to offer. Keystone is open for the summer Thursdays through Mondays through Labor Day with bonus weekends in the fall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until September 21.

Mountaintop SNOW Tubing 

You heard us right. Mountaintop SNOW tubing returns to Keystone this summer. Ride up the River Run Gondola and access the same tubing hill that operates at the resort during winter. Our resort teams farm snow from around the mountain to maintain the tubing hill so that guests can chill out, cool off, and go for a slide this summer season. Open as long as the snow lasts!  

Keystone Bike Park: It’s All Downhill from Here 

From techy expert trails to blue jump lines and beginner flow, the Keystone Bike Park offers some of the country’s best downhill mountain biking. With more than 30 miles of lift-serviced singletrack trails to explore, riders of all ability levels can experience the adrenaline rush of cruising down Dercum Mountain downhill on dirt instead of snow.  

This summer, Keystone will play host to TWO great enduro races! On August 2-3, the Revolution Enduro will provide a chance for competitive downhill riders to compete while spectators are encouraged to join in the fun by watching the race in designated areas or cruising through the sponsor village. Two weeks later, the Trail Party Downhill Rockies Race comes to Keystone on August 16-17. 

Keystone Golf: Two Championship Courses, One Great Resort 

Keystone Resort is home to two incredible golf courses, offering 36-holes of championship golf in one gorgeous setting from mid-May through early October. The River Course offers impressive elevation changes, variable bunkers, water hazards and six sets of tees on each hole to challenge and welcome golfers of all ability levels. Keystone Ranch Golf Course is set on historic ranch land where original structures give an old western feel nestled amongst tall peaks. Plus, lodging guests can take advantage of FREE golf at either of our courses on the first day of arrival when their stay is booked directly through Keystone Resort.  

Festival Season: Cool Off, Chillax, Rock Out!

  • Keystone Bacon & Bourbon Festival, June 21-22 

This two-day summer kick off features legendary bacon-themed dishes, live music from great rock groups from all over the country, Camp Bacon activities for the kiddos, and top shelf whiskeys and bourbons for creative pairings

  • Stars & Guitars, July 5  
    Celebrate Independence Day the Keystone way with stars and stripes, live music, free face painting, and interactive circus performers against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. 

  • Keystone Wine & Jazz Festival, July 12-13 

Cheers to another year of Keystone Wine & Jazz in River Run Village, with hundreds of varieties of wines to sip and savor accompanied by a wonderful variety of Coloradoan jazz groups.

  • Artists from across the country converge in River Run Village to showcase and sell unique pieces ranging from ceramics to jewelry to paintings and more. 

  • Keystone’s Bluegrass & Beer Festival, Aug. 2-3 

Bluegrass and Beer is back for another year of plucking strings, pouring craft beers, and devouring melt-in-your-mouth morsels. 

  • Mountain Town Food Fest, Aug. 16 

Live music, local bites, and tons of fun are sure to make this newly reimagined Keystone festival a family favorite. 

  • Keystone Oktoberfest, Aug. 30 

Lederhosen and dirndl-wearing celebrants gather to send out summer in Bavarian fashion at Keystone Oktoberfest! Raise a stein, dance the polka, munch on German fare, and catch interactive performances by traditional dance groups. 

 

Lakeside Village and The Adventure Center: Splish, Splash or Spa!  
 

The 5-acre Keystone Lake is the perfect place to spend a summer day with lawn games, canoe, pedal boat or stand-up paddle board rentals from the Adventure Center! Or, if you'd rather take a scenic cruise on two wheels, rent a bike and explore the beautiful Snake River rec path for miles in either direction. Top off a full day of adventure by cheers-ing to time spent outdoors with a cold one from the self-pour taps at Rathbone inside the Keystone Adventure Center. For even more relaxation, the Alpenglow Spa at the Keystone Lodge offers a full-service spa complete with massages, facials, and even a unique detoxifying saltwater float tank.

Luxury Lodging just Steps from River Run Gondola: Kindred Resort 

Located literal steps from the slopes, Keystone's new luxury development, Kindred Resort, is being built right at the base of the River Run Gondola. Kindred will feature ski-in/out residences along with a Rock Resorts hotel which will include unique features new to Keystone like valet parking, valet ski & bike storage, restaurants, and a full-service spa. The family friendly Kindred Resort will also be the new home for Keystone Ski & Ride School and will include an exclusive pool and hot tub facility with unobstructed mountain views. Kindred Resort is anticipated to open later this year, and will further position Keystone as one of North America’s great destinations for outdoor recreation.

Where to Eat  

Summit House is the place to be for good food and even better views! Take a ride up the River Run Gondola to the summit of Dercum Mountain, where you can kick back, relax, and picnic at 11,000 feet overlooking Lake Dillon in one direction and the Tenmile Range in the other.  

For a more upscale dinner, a unique fine-dining experience awaits at the historic and charming Ski Tip Lodge. Don’t miss apple strudel a la mode by the fireplace for dessert! Or, after a day on the links, the Keystone Ranch serves up award-winning food in a beautiful, cozy cabin.

Keystone Ranch Golf Course: Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., this historic mountain course winds through lodgepole pines, around sage meadows and across a nine-acre lake. The course sits on historic ranching land that housed multiple homesteads in the 1900s, with many outbuildings remaining on the course today including the Keystone Ranch restaurant, a AAA Four-Diamond rated restaurant.

Climate 

Average Summer Temperatures: 70 degrees daytime, 50 degrees nighttime. Bring plenty of sunscreen and layers to protect against the intense sunshine (remember, the Dercum Summit is over 11,000 ft and closer to the sun!), and to be prepared with a rain jacket and keep an eye out for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. 

 

High Altitude Preparedness 
High elevation can affect people in different ways. Visitors should be mindful of the effects of altitude and make sure to always wear sunscreen, drink more water than normal, and limit the consumption of alcohol. If symptoms such as headache, nausea, lethargy or shortness of breath persist, visitors should seek immediate medical attention.
