Beaver Creek Resort Earns 11th Industry Safety Award from National Ski Areas Association
Beaver Creek, Colo. (May 21, 2014) –  The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) recently awarded Beaver Creek Resortwith the Best Overall Safety award in the industry for the 2013-2014 season. This is the 11th NSAA safety award the resort has received in the past 14 years.

According to NSAA, their annual safety awards “recognize exceptional resort initiatives to educate guests and employees about skiing and snowboarding responsibly.”  Beaver Creek is one of only 12 resorts in the industry to receive a safety award this year.

Beaver Creek’s safety awareness efforts take place on and off the slopes. On the mountain, Beaver Creek’s Mountain Safety Team meets and talks with resort guests and employees through a variety of programs all season. Safe skiing behavior is rewarded while safety violation information is proactively displayed to demonstrate enforcement and lost skiing privileges. The Mountain Safety Team visits local schools to educate local kids about safety and responsibility on the mountain and they distribute helmets to kids through a partnership with other community organizations. This year, the Mountain Safety Team partnered with Vail Valley Medical Center and hosted a screening of Kevin Pearce’s film “The Crash Reel” to help raise awareness of traumatic brain injuries. In conjunction, the Mountain Safety Team gave away helmets to resort guests. In response to growing interest in the backcountry, the Beaver Creek and Vail Ski Patrols jointly host the Eagle County Avalanche Awareness Series, providing information to people before they venture into the backcountry.
