Hope on the Slopes Returns to Breckenridge on Saturday

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Feb. 18, 2014 —The ninth annual Hope on the Slopes returns to Breckenridge Ski Resort, February 22, 2014, to provide skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to make a day of skiing or riding more meaningful by raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society, the nation’s number one non-profit contributor of funds for cancer research. This year’s event is targeting 300 participants to raise $300,000 as well as to remember and honor those affected by cancer. The 2013 event at Breck raised $250,000.

Hope on the Slopes also allows teams and individuals to compete for fantastic prizes in two categories: dollars raised through fundraising and an Epic Mix Ski/Snowboarding Competition. Friends, family and colleagues are encouraged to form teams to make every run count towards the fight against cancer. Participants should register at Hope on the Slopes, where they will also be eligible for discounted lift tickets and equipment rentals.

The day’s festivities also include a closing ceremony and post-party at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Breckenridge.  Skiers and boarders of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate and support the cause to find a cure and fight back against cancer.

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with more than a century of experience to save lives and end cancer for good. As a global grassroots force of three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping you stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early, helping you get well by being there for you during and after a diagnosis, by finding cures through groundbreaking discovery, and fighting back through public policy. As the nation’s largest nongovernmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.5 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, nearly 14 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
