Smooth Bluegrass and Cold Beers On-tap at Keystone Resort's 17th Annual Bluegrass and Beer Festival
KEYSTONE, Colo. — July 24, 2013 —Bluegrass and Beer is a classic combination, and when you add in the comfortable mountain climate and Rocky Mountain fun offered at Keystone Resort, you have a weekend festival that’s not to be missed. Now in its 17th year, the Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival, August 2-4, will include a stellar lineup of bluegrass favorites, more than 30 breweries providing plenty of perfectly chilled refreshments and a variety of instructional seminars taught by some of the most respected names in bluegrass.
To begin the foot-stomping fun, Warren Station Center for the Arts will host a bluegrass kick-off party Friday, August 2, 8 p.m.-11:30 p.m. featuring Della Mae. Saturday morning will start early with a 9 a.m. bass seminar taught by Steve Roy, a well known upright bassist. The Shock Top Beer Garden, located just outside Warren Station in River Run Village, will open at Noon both Saturday and Sunday allowing guests to unwind and savor $5 pints while enjoying acoustic bluegrass music accompaniment from the adjacent Quaking Aspen Amphitheater beginning at 12:30 p.m. each day. When stomachs start to growl, festival attendees can enjoy a variety of food from some of Keystone’s finest restaurants, both Saturday and Sunday in the Village plaza from Noon-5 p.m. The festival’s other music venues include the Village Stage located in the heart of the River Run Events Plaza and Montezuma Plaza just inside the River Run information center, both of which will host live bluegrass acts including Hackensaw Boys and Sierra Hull, 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The weekend’s seminars will conclude on Sunday with banjo instruction from Kyle Tuttle and a fiddle seminar taught by Phoebe Hunt.
Although Keystone’s summer temperatures rarely exceed 75 degrees in its comfortable mountain climate, thirst will be inspired by the tasty festival food and foot stomping fun throughout the weekend. Guests can reward their taste buds with brews from more than 30 breweries, offering up a total of more than 60 delicious recipes, perfect for enjoying under the Colorado sunshine. Favorite local breweries including Backcountry Brewery, Boulder Beer Co, Breckenridge Brewery, Dillon Dam Brewery, Great Divide Brewing Co, New Belgium Brewing Co, Crazy Mountain Brewery, Colorado Cider Co and Aspen Brewing Co will be on-hand serving up their latest and greatest. Unlimited sampling of all the tasty brews is available for $40 for one-day passes and $75 for a weekend ticket. Sampling packages all include a souvenir mug.
If guests tire of the great live music or the delicious barley and hop mixtures and want to spend more time enjoying the scenic Rocky Mountains, Keystone provides plenty of summer activities. Mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, scenic lift rides, golfing on the resort’s two championship courses, children’s activities in Gondola Plaza and boating or paddle boarding on Keystone Lake will all be available throughout the weekend, offering the perfect opportunity to work up a thirst. Guests can make a weekend out of their Keystone visit with festival lodging packages starting at just $102 per person, per night, including one-day festival entry.
As with all Keystone festivals hosted by the Keystone Neighborhood Company, a portion of festival proceeds support local causes and charities. The main beneficiary for this year’s Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival is High Country Conservation Center. Each donation to this organization helps fund programs and services that promote practical solutions to waste reduction and resource conservation in our Mountain Community.
