Bidding Extended Through Jan. 23 for Your Chance to Join a Celebrity Chef’s Ski Racing Team at the 2013 Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend; Proceeds go to the Chefs’ Charities of Choice
Beaver Creek, Colo., Jan. 15, 2013 – Due to the hectic holiday season, bidding for this year’s Celebrity Chef Ski Raceat the Beaver Creek  Food and Wine Weekend is extended until Jan. 23 at 9 p.m. The minimum bid is now $175 per team per person and includes a spot on the chef’s team, lift access for the race and brunch at the Beaver Creek Chophouse. The race and brunch will take place Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. This event offers an opportunity for guests to race on a team with their favorite celebrity chefs including John Besh, Spike Mendelsohn, Gail Simmons, Sam Talbot, Alex Seidel and Tim Love. In order to make it onto a chef’s team, guests must bid online at www.biddingforgood.com/beavercreekskirace.

Each celebrity chef team will consist of the four top bidders and the celebrity chef. Race action starts at 10 a.m. on Haymeadow trail followed by brunch and an awards ceremony from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Beaver Creek Chophouse. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of your favorite celebrity chef’s team and race side by side with them for a good cause.

The charities the chefs will be racing for are:

-          Tim Love, Burgers for Babies – Founded by Tim Love, Burgers for Babies raises money for NICU Helping Hands, a 501(c)(3) organization.  NICU Helping Hands develops hospital and community-based projects to provide education and support to families of premature infants—“family support for fragile beginnings.”

-          John Besh, Chefs Move - Chefs Move’s mission is to diversify kitchen management by providing training, experience and mentorship to a minority applicant from New Orleans, sending them to New York City for culinary school training and then bringing them back again to become a leader in the kitchen and in their community.

-          Gail Simmons, City Harvest - Now serving New York City for 30 years, City Harvest is the world's first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women, and children. This year, City Harvest will collect more than 42 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry, including restaurants, grocers, corporate cafeterias, manufacturers, and farms.

-          Spike Mendelsohn, Good Stuff Gardens - Chef Spike Mendelsohn started Good Stuff Gardens for KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) to demonstrate to young students that healthy eating is fun, easy and important.  Good Stuff Gardens allows Chef Spike to work directly with kids to plant, grow, cook and eat delicious fresh foods. 

-          Sam Talbot, JDRF - JDRF is the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Driven by passionate, grassroots volun­teers connected to children, adolescents, and adults with this disease, JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research.

-          Alex Seidel, Project Angel Heart - Project Angel Heart’s mission is to deliver nutritious meals to improve quality of life, at no cost, for those coping with life-threatening illnesses.  Project Angel Heart will deliver at least 445,000 nutritious meals to 1,950 clients in metro Denver and Colorado Springs in 2012.
