First Powder Day of the Season Arrives at Vail Mountain

VAIL, Colo. – Dec. 9, 2012 – Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, received nine inches of fresh snow overnight providing skiers and snowboarders some of the first powder turns of the season. With the arrival of new snow guests can look for more terrain to open soon.
 
The snow arrived just in time as the resort prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 15 as well as the entire week leading up to it with Snow Daze taking place Dec. 10-16 including concerts from The Shins on Thursday, Michael Franti and Spearhead on Friday and headliner act Wilco on Saturday. In addition to Snow Daze guests can reserve tickets for the world premiere of Roger Cotton Brown’s film, “Vail, the Rise of America’s Iconic Ski Resort,” on Friday, Dec. 14, and join in a live, public celebration of Vail’s 50th anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Mountain Plaza.
