More Snow Falls at Vail with the Help of Mother Nature and the Mountain’s Snowmaking Team
VAIL, Colo. – Oct. 25, 2012 – Cold temperatures returned last night allowing Mother Nature to drop five inches of fresh snow on the slopes of Vail Mountain. In addition to the natural stuff, Vail’s snowmaking team was able to jump back into action blowing snow through the night and into today on Golden Peak and on Born Free in Lionshead. Snowmaking will continue as temperatures allow and forecasts are calling for more natural snow this afternoon and evening.

Vail’s 50th anniversary season is just 22 days away with opening day on Friday, Nov. 16, and the US Ski Team will be out carving turns down Golden Peak beginning in early November. Fans can catch some of their favorite ski racers, including Olympic gold medalists like Lindsey Vonn, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso and Ted Ligety, up close as the 2013 U.S. Alpine Ski Team is named in Vail the evening before opening on Nov. 15. Partake in the live, public celebration starting at 5 p.m. in Arrabelle Square in Lionshead.

The U.S. Ski Team Announcement will be followed by Vail’s opening day and the dedication of the new, state-of-the-art gondola in Vail Village. In addition this winter season will also feature a series of great events including the special 50th anniversary edition of the signature, early season celebration, Vail Snow Daze, Dec. 10-16 featuring a stellar lineup of bands, including headline act Wilco, the Grammy Award-winning Chicago-based alternative rock band, along with The Shins and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
