7th Annual Hope on the Slopes in Breckenridge Benefits the American Cancer Society
On Behalf of the American Cancer Society

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – Feb. 10, 2012 - The 7th Annual Hope on the Slopes of Breckenridge on February 25, 2012 provides skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to make their day of skiing or riding more meaningful by raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society, the nation’s #1 non-profit contributor of funds for cancer research. The 2012 event, hosted by the Breckenridge Ski Resort, strives to have 300 participants, raise $70,000 and continue to remember and honor those affected by cancer. The 2011 event in Breckenridge had over 250 participants, raised $68,000 and honored many survivors and loved ones touched by cancer.

While at the Hope on the Slopes, both teams and individuals will compete for fantastic prizes on two levels: dollars raised through fundraising and an Epic Mix Ski/Snowboarding Competition. Prizes include free lodging, K2 snowboard, mountain gift certificates, and more! Skiers and boarders of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Friends, family, and colleagues are encouraged to form teams to make every run count towards the fight against cancer. Discounted lift tickets, lodging, and equipment rentals are available for participants.

The festivities include a weekend of exciting events in Breckenridge. There is a pre-party on Friday, February 24th at Mother Loaded Tavern with great specials and proceeds going to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. The post-party, following the main event at Peak 9 on Saturday, will be hosted at Quandary Grille. Events are open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend and support a great cause to find a cure and fight back against cancer.

The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end cancer for good. As a global grassroots force of three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping you stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early, helping you get well by being there for you during and after a diagnosis, by finding cures through groundbreaking discovery and fighting back through public policy. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.5 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
