A Cornucopia of Powder for Skiers and Snowboarders This Thanksgiving in Colorado and California
Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe are all now Open with Great Conditions and Epic Early Season Terrain
 
VAIL, Colo. – Nov. 24, 2010 – Skiers and snowboarders can thank Mother Nature for a feast of powder and record-setting terrain openings in both Colorado and California this Thanksgiving. Vail Resorts six world-class resorts including Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe are all now open with epic snow conditions. More snow is expected this weekend for Colorado and California as well so skiers may want to change their Black Friday into a White Friday and head up to the slopes.
 
Vail Mountain: Plenty to be Thankful for with Nearly 3,000 skiable acres
Just days after opening for the season, continued snowfall, cold temperatures and hours of hard work from Vail's operations teams allowed the resort to open more lifts and expand its skiable terrain to 2,743 acres, including China and Tea Cup bowls. Opening for the first time this season at 9 a.m., the Riva Bahn Express Lift (#6) and Gopher Hill Lift (#12) in Golden Peak; the Cascade Village Lift (#20) and the Sourdough Express Lift (#14) all kicked into gear this morning. Powder Pilgrims Flock to Breckenridge for New Terrain Openings
Breckenridge Ski Resort also announced significant terrain expansion today, with Peak 9 and its base services complimenting existing skiing and riding on peak 8. Thanks to huge November snowfalls, Breckenridge will also offer expanded terrain on Peak 8, with the Imperial Express lift joining the Colorado Superchair, Rocky Mountain Superchair, Rip's Ride and Chairs 5 and 6. Heavenly and Northstar Serve Up Hefty Helpings of Early Season Snowfall
Lake Tahoe Resorts, Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe have seen a whopping 58 inches and 93 inches of snow respectively in the last five days, allowing the California side of Heavenly resort to open to skiers and riders today and is operating 14 lifts and 22 trails in California and Nevada. Beaver Creek Resort Opens Today with Plenty to Be Thankful for Including Great Snow Conditions and Chocolate Chip Cookies
Beaver Creek Resort’s 30th season kicked off today at 9 a.m. offering skiers and snowboarders 426 acres of terrain, 11 lifts and a mix of beginner, intermediate and expert trails. Before noon, the resort dropped the ropes on Rose Bowl and increased its terrain to 530 acres on an opening powder day. Skiers and riders will refuel and consume 5,000 chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon for the annual Beaver Creek Cookie competition. Weather forecasters are calling for another round of snow and plunging temperatures through Wednesday evening in the Beaver Creek area, which will enable snowmaking and mountain operations crews to continue working on other areas of the mountain. Keystone Resort Gives Skiers and Riders a Feast of New Terrain and Activities
Keystone Resort is opening North Peak today and Bergman Bowl tomorrow giving skiers and riders a total of 1748 acres of skiing across three mountains by tomorrow. Additionally, Keystone Resort begins its lift-served snow tubing operations today and will be open for night skiing throughout the holiday weekend.
