The Badly Bent to Play at Vail’s Friday Afternoon Club on July 23
Family-friendly scavenger hunt at the Nature Discovery Center this Saturday at Eagle’s Nest
 
VAIL, Colo. – July 21, 2010 – Hailing from Durango, Colo., The Badly Bent will perform their traditional, high-energy bluegrass at Vail’s original mountaintop Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) this Friday, July 23 from 4-9 p.m. at Eagle’s Nest. FAC takes place every Friday on Talon’s Deck beginning at 4 p.m. In addition to live music from local and regional bands, FAC features food and drink specials, spectacular views of the Vail Valley and free activities for all ages including bocce ball, horseshoes, bean bag toss and the new slackline park.
 
All performances are free and the Eagle Bahn Gondola is free to 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 pass holders and children ages four and under. Children ages 5-12 years old ride free with a paid adult (limit three children per paid adult). After 4 p.m., lift tickets can be purchased for $15, which includes a $10 credit voucher valid for the purchase of on-mountain food, beverage or Adventure Ridge activities. Or, take a break from the tunes, grab a complimentary shuttle to Game Creek and use the voucher for sunset appetizers and drinks on Game Creek Restaurant’s deck overlooking the Vail Valley. The last ride up the Eagle Bahn Gondola during evening operations is at 8:30 p.m. to allow time for guests to use their voucher.

  • Aug. 6 – Bluzilla
  • Aug. 13 – Sloppy Mountain String Band
  • Aug. 20 – Mad Dog and the Smokin’ Js

Family Scavenger Hunt at the Nature Discovery Center
As an extension of this week’s Lionshead Saturday Afternoon Club, families and kids of all ages are invited to stop in the Nature Discovery Center at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola on Saturday, July 24 from 3-6 p.m. for a scavenger hunt. All families that complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a drawing later in the evening for a dinner for four at Bistro Fourteen. The Nature Discovery Center is located in an all-seasons yurt and is operated by Walking Mountains in partnership with Vail Resorts and the U.S. Forest Service. Sunday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
*Bikes are not allowed up the gondola after 4 p.m.
 
Sept. 10 – 19
Weekends only: Friday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
