Sloppy Mountain String Band to Make Mountaintop Debut at Vail’s Friday Afternoon Club on July 9
  • Food and drink specials at Eagle’s Nest from 4 – 9 p.m. 
  • Free activities including bocce ball, horseshoes, bean bag toss and the slackline park
VAIL, Colo. – July 8, 2010 – Vail’s original mountaintop Friday Afternoon Club (FAC) welcomes the folk/bluegrass-inspired Sloppy Mountain String Band this Friday, July 9 from 4-9 p.m. at Eagle’s Nest. Sloppy Mountain String Band is composed of accomplished bluegrass musicians from Colorado-based bands Laughing Bones and All Strung Out.

FAC begins every Friday at 4 p.m. on Talon’s Deck and features live music from blues and bluegrass to rock and reggae, spectacular sunsets, food and drink specials and free activities for all ages including bocce ball, horseshoes, bean bag toss and the new slackline park.

All 18 holes of Vail Mountain’s disc golf course are now open. The course begins at the top of the Pride Express Lift (#26), winds up to the western edge of the ski area boundary, wraps below the Eagle Bahn Gondola through the Little Eagle Lift (#15) area and ends near Thunder Cat Cave. Maps are recommended and available at the information desk at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. The course is designed for all ability levels and discs, putters and drivers can be rented at Eagle’s Nest for $8. The course is free to those with their own equipment and disc golf equipment can also be purchased at the Vail Sports location at Eagle’s Nest.

All performances are free and the Eagle Bahn Gondola is free to 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 pass holders and children ages four and under. Children ages 5-12 years old ride free with a paid adult (limit three children per paid adult). After 4 p.m., lift tickets can be purchased for $15, which includes a $10 credit voucher valid for the purchase of on-mountain food, beverage or Adventure Ridge activities. Or, take a break from the tunes, grab a complimentary shuttle to Game Creek and use the voucher for sunset appetizers and drinks on Game Creek Restaurant’s deck overlooking the Vail Valley. The last ride up the Eagle Bahn Gondola during evening operations is at 8:30 p.m. to allow time for guests to use their voucher.

  • Sept. 3 – Bluzilla
