Steven Schloss

Chief People Officer

Steven Schloss was hired as the United States Golf Association’s chief people officer in January 2014, overseeing human resources, diversity and inclusion and internal communications. He also serves as an industry change leader focused on developing the next generation of golf leaders and volunteers.

Prior to joining the USGA, Schloss served as senior vice president and global head of people at LivePerson, a high growth leader in intelligent online customer engagement, where he was the top human resources executive at a time when the company more than doubled in size and revenue. At LivePerson, Schloss led a global culture, workplace and capabilities transformation, and introduced innovative talent systems and solutions that significantly improved retention and engagement.

Schloss also spent thirteen years at Time Inc. as vice president of global people development and human resources. There, he led talent management, organizational effectiveness and diversity as the company navigated its multi-platform transformation. Additionally, Schloss led human resources for digital media and e-commerce startups and trusted brands, including Sports Illustrated, Fortune and Golf.  He also served 10 years as vice president of human resources at Citicorp and was a graduate faculty member at The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy. He currently serves as a volunteer advisor and coach for Ashoka, a global organization that identifies and invests in social entrepreneurship and is a certified executive coach.

A native of Teaneck, N.J., Schloss has a bachelor’s degree in personnel and industrial relations from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in human resources management from The New School. He and his wife Barbara reside in Northern New Jersey. They have two grown children.
