Emily von Doehren

Chief of Staff

Emily von Doehren was promoted to Chief of Staff, reporting to Mike Davis, on November 1 of 2017. In this newly created role, Emily will work closely with Mike and the Executive team on strategic initiatives across the Association and in service to the game. Emily has been with the USGA since 2012, and previously led the Regional Affairs team. She has also been instrumental in our Membership Engagement initiatives and has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a passion for our mission.

As senior director for regional affairs, she began to oversee GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) Association Services, leading a team that transformed a service currently utilized in China, India and Mexico with the goal of building the next generation of membership engagement for golfers and facilities.

Since she began leading the regional affairs team in 2012, von Doehren helped reorganize the department, including a regional realignment that resulted in hiring four new regional directors. She also briefly served as the director of regional affairs for the New England region, an area that encompassed Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Previously, von Doehren served as director of club services for the Southern California Golf Association where she counseled the SCGA board and executive staff, administered the club delegate program, handled amateur status inquiries, organized SCGA member outings and managed the SCGA member advantage program. In addition, she served as the SCGA’s assistant director for handicap and membership for one year and administrative manager for handicap and membership from 2004-06.

Then, from 2007-11, von Doehren served as managing director of the International Association of Golf Administrators, representing more than 100 state, regional and national golf associations, the IAGA board of directors and other golf industry leaders. She was responsible for organizing the IAGA annual conference, handling the IAGA’s salary and fees survey and coordinating the development of the IAGA website.

A resident of Bedminster, N.J., von Doehren has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University where she was a member of the Lumberjacks’ golf team from 1999-2003 and served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Upon graduating, she was awarded a USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. internship.
