There are hundreds of hotels, pubs, inns and B&Bs around the world named after England’s patron saint and famous dragon-slayer. This list, determined by TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index and based on the reviews and opinions from real travellers, reveals the best hotels named George across England.

1. The George at Wath, Wath, North Yorkshire

Located close to the cathedral city of Ripon, The George is just minutes from the stunning Yorkshire Dales. Despite its history, the hotel was refurbished in 2009 and each of its guestrooms is equipped with flat screen TVs and iPod docking stations. This country pub with its log-burning fire and a mix of oak and flag stone floor offers the perfect cosy and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a pint of real ale. As one TripAdvisor traveller said, “Fantastic country pub, excellent rooms, excellent food....just perfect!”

2. The George Hotel & Brasserie, Buckden, Cambridgeshire

6. The George Hotel, Tideswell, Derbyshire
