October is National Pet Wellness month, as designated by the American Veterinary Medical Association. In support of pet wellness month and to encourage pet health and wellness in the communities PETCO shares, the company will host its inaugural "Paws Across America" event in select stores from coast to coast on Saturday, Oct. 7.
The event, sponsored by Hill's Science Diet, will include a 20-minute community dog walk held in each store's shopping center and a pet health expo. Registration for the walk begins at 8 a.m. A suggested $5 donation is appreciated and all proceeds will benefit the non-profit PETCO Foundation. All participants will receive a free Paws Across America T-shirt.
"This event is a great way for people to exercise their pet and meet other pet lovers in their area," said Manager of Strategic Partnerships & Promotions Clint White. "Paws Across America is about celebrating the human-animal bond and educating pet parents about what they can do to ensure the health and well-being of their pet."
Immediately following the walk, participants are invited to a pet health expo, which will include information on PETCO's pet services, pet first aid, pet nutrition, low-cost vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries and more.
