IBM receives highest score for strategy amongst market leaders
PR Newswire
ARMONK, N.Y.

ARMONK, N.Y., March 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced it has been named a leader by Forrester Research among large enterprise mobile app services providers based on an evaluation of the most significant services providers in the market, which is growing as employees demand support for mobile and companies shift towards using mobile for business.

In the report, "The Forrester Wave™:   Mobile Enterprise App Services Providers – Large Providers, Q1 2015," IBM ranked as a leader among 10 services providers across three main criteria – current offering, strategy and market presence – and received the highest score for strategy. Forrester recognized IBM's deep talent and track record across client needs for mobile enterprise app services, blending a strong portfolio of technology and business consulting skills with creative design talent from IBM Interactive Experience.

Forrester recognized that IBM pioneered new business models such as the ability to buy mobile services online. Additionally, the firm highlighted IBM's investment in research and development that will benefit its mobile enterprise apps clients. The report mentioned how IBM's partnership with Apple developed in July 2014 has produced co-developed solutions for industries including 10 apps that launched in late 2014 – [IBM note: now up to 14] – to speed time-to-value and reduce development efforts for common industry functionality.

Forrester notes that employee- and partner-facing mobile apps can increase revenue as organizations are able to anticipate customer desires through analytics to turn leads into sales. As an example, the report cites in-store mobile solutions for the retail industry developed by IBM and Apple that help retailers drive the right offers to consumers at the point of sale.

According to Forrester, technology-focused services partners such as IBM are a leading choice for B2E and B2B mobile apps because of their expertise in the backend systems and integration patterns needed to make mobile enterprise apps successful. They also combine development skills with design and test skills, and back it up with business consulting chops and prebuilt IP in the form of configurable apps, development and testing frameworks, and high-velocity delivery approaches.

"In today's hyper-digital world, mobile redefines engagement and fundamentally changes the way companies empower their employees and interact with customers across all touchpoints," said Paul Papas, Global Leader, IBM Interactive Experience. "We believe Forrester has identified IBM as a leader for enterprise mobility services and that this is exemplified by our partnership with Apple.  The recognition demonstrates to us that IBM has the unique combination of world class design, industry consulting, and technology expertise to deliver transformational mobile projects for our clients at scale."
