MEXICO CITY, Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that ABC Capital, one of the largest financial companies in Mexico, has deployed a solution based on PureSystems technology. ABC Capital is a combination of two companies – ABC Capital SA, a multiple banking institution that offers financial products, services and credit collection and Operax Consulting Services, one of the largest independent portfolio managers in Mexico.

The combination of different companies resulted in a complex and difficult to manage technology environment. ABC Capital found itself with two core banking solutions and over 51 legacy applications running on more than four different operating systems. Additionally, it had three types of virtual servers, four different kinds of databases and outdated technology with limited capacity with which to meet future plans.

After considering other vendors including HP, Dell and Oracle, ABC Capital chose to consolidate its entire IT infrastructure onto IBM PureSystems.

"In order to become more competitive in the market, ABC Capital was looking to build an infrastructure that could support the mobile technology and social network requirements of our customers," said Sergio Mendoza Alvarez, Director of Technology for ABC Capital. "The integration of our platforms using IBM PureSystems will allow us to meet these goals and reduce the migration time for our multi-core systems, from two years to 7 months."

Since the systems were launched in April 2012, more than 8,000 clients from 100 countries have selected IBM PureSystems.

The IBM PureSystems family offers clients an alternative to current enterprise computing models, where multiple and disparate systems require significant resources to set up and maintain. The PureFlex System enables organizations to more efficiently create and manage an infrastructure. PureApplication Systems help organizations reduce the cost and complexity of rapidly deploying and managing applications. PureData Systems are tuned for cloud computing and can consolidate more than 100 databases on a single system. In addition to the common web application patterns supported by PureApplication System, the combination of both PureData and PureApplication Systems can be used for end to end transaction workloads.
