Global Hyatt Corporation announced today that it has acquired the 505room Westin Santa Clara from an affiliate of Strategic Hotel Capital, LLC. Effective immediately, Hyatt assumes management of the property and has rebranded and repositioned the hotel as Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and will promptly begin a $10 million dollar renovation of guestrooms, lobby area and meeting space. Joining Hyatt San Jose in the heart of Northern California’s Silicon Valley, Hyatt Regency Santa Clara becomes Hyatt’s 27in the state and 215property worldwide.

Chicago based Global Hyatt Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the upscale extended stay brand and franchise system of 21 Summerfield Suites branded hotels and acquire 6 owned Summerfield Suites hotels from partnerships between affiliates of The Blackstone Group, the Gencom Group and Lehman Brothers. The contract closing is scheduled for early January 2006.
