Heidrick & Struggles Adds Two Strategic Advisors to Education & Social Enterprise Practice

CHICAGO, Oct 27, 2011 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) --

Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. (Nasdaq:HSII), the leadership advisory firm providing executive search and leadership consulting services worldwide, announced today the recent appointment of Bill Fowler and Jake Cohen as Strategic Advisors to the Education & Social Enterprise (ESE) Practice.

"As we see developing trends in the sectors we cover and hear about the challenges our clients face, our practice has always found it highly valuable to engage world-class expertise in a variety of ways," said Joe Haberman, global managing partner of the Education & Social Enterprise Practice. "Bill and Jake are great additions to our team in this regard. We are very excited they will be dedicating time with us to focus on these important issues."

Fowler, based in California, brings to Heidrick & Struggles a worldwide reputation as a leading figure in the pursuit of innovation in education. Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Fowler was an executive at Cisco Systems for 13 years, most recently as Director of Cisco's Global Education division, developing strategies for higher education, education and commerce ministries and educational institutions worldwide. His advisory role will be focused on collaborating with ESE consultants serving the education technology market and with ESE clients building their information technology talent. Fowler also will be assisting the practice in its work with providers and utilizers of innovative models and technologies that improve the return on investment in education resources.

Cohen most recently was the Dean for MBA programs at INSEAD and is currently based in Singapore on a sabbatical year. He has gained considerable recognition for the effect his use of best practice management tools had on INSEAD (and its global ranking) while he served as Dean. Cohen will be working with ESE to instill this perspective in the selection of new leaders for education and social enterprise leaders. Another area of his expertise -- mergers & acquisitions -- is gaining more relevance in education sectors. Cohen will assist ESE in refining perspectives on leadership capabilities needed to adapt to this changing environment. In July 2012, he will be taking up his new post as Associate Dean at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
