Japan, May 17, 2005 - Astellas Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.(Astellas) today announced that Astellas has decided a dissolution of Astellas Medical Care Co., Ltd., its wholly owned subsidiary engaged in home care business, effective May 31, 2005 as it decided the de facto withdrawal from home care business reflecting the Astellas' strategy to focus on the ethical pharmaceuticals business.
The extraordinary loss with regard to this dissolution is expected to be minimal and there is no revision of financial forecasts announced on May 17, 2005.
