ARLINGTON, Texas – Mary German has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau.
German, a 29-year veteran in the tourism industry, has been at the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau for 25 years, where she has led several departments and initiatives. Her most recent project being the Arlington Tourism Public Improvement District (TPID), she was also instrumental in the formation of the Arlington Entertainment Area Management District (Arlington Trolley Services).
“Mary’s wealth of talents, disciplines and achievements has set her as the standard of excellence in leadership in Arlington and the region. Working closely with her to strengthen our foundation within the community and beyond is critical to growing as an organization,” said Ron Price, President & CEO of the Arlington CVB.
Among her professional credentials, she is a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME)–the highest educational achievement for destination marketing and management executives by Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI), where she is a member and faculty member of the Certified Destination Management Executive Program—as well as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP). She is the former president of Event Service Professionals Association and Texas Alliance of Convention, Meeting & Event Operations Managers.
Currently she is a Certified CoreClarity Facilitator, member of the U.S. Travel Association and National Speakers Association North Texas Chapter Charbonneau Speakers Academy Graduate.
She is a member of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce Women’s Alliance Advisory Council and former president of Women of Visionary Influence Arlington Chapter. She produced the first Pathways to Excellence Program at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus during Women’s History Month.
Most recently, Mary was one of six recipients of the 2016 Dallas Business Journal Women in Tourism Award.
