CVS/pharmacy, America's leading retail pharmacy, announced today that it has re-opened more than 140 stores in Southeast Texas since Hurricane Ike impacted the region. Approximately two-thirds of CVS/pharmacy's locations in the region are now open. More CVS stores continue to re-open daily to provide pharmacy services to communities impacted by the hurricane.
"We are committed to re-opening our stores as quickly as possible to ensure our communities have access to emergency supplies and their prescription medications," said Dennis Tewell, Area Vice President--Texas, CVS/pharmacy. "Customers who have been displaced by the hurricane may visit any nearby CVS/pharmacy to have their prescriptions filled."
To assist with hurricane recovery efforts in its communities, over the past two days CVS/pharmacy has held several water and ice donation events in the parking lots of its stores located in Houston, Beaumont, Santa Fe and Nederland.
CVS Caremark Corporation announced earlier this week that the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust is donating $250,000 to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund to support the organization's on-going relief efforts, including their current efforts in the aftermaths of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
