The CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust, Inc., the private foundation of CVS Corporation, announced today that the CVS Highlander Charter School in Providence, RI, will receive a $1 million grant to support programs for children with learning disabilities. The grant supports CVS All Kids Can™, an initiative designed to make life easier for children with disabilities.

"The CVS Highlander Charter School is dedicated to making children the best they can be and we are proud to support that mission," said Eileen Howard Dunn, Vice President of the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust. "We believe in the model CVS Highlander uses to educate their students and in the school's work with The Bradford L. Dunn Institute to support children with disabilities."

The CVS Highlander Charter School was opened in 2002 as the first independent charter school in Rhode Island. Today, 234 students attend the CVS Highlander Charter School.

In order to more effectively reach children with all types of minds, CVS Highlander merged with The Bradford L. Dunn Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing programs and services which address the needs of those living or working with learning disabilities. CVS Highlander's mission is that all children will develop, through a breadth of rigorous learning experiences, a commitment to all they do, a passion for lifelong learning, and the skills they need to be active, responsible and productive community members.

"We are grateful to the CVS/pharmacy Charitable Trust for their generous gift to our school," said Jim Donahue, Executive Director of CVS Highlander Charter School. "CVS/pharmacy has been with us since the beginning as a partner in our vision to positively impact children and give them an opportunity to be productive community members and we could not do it without their support."
