DALLAS, January 9, 2014 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment services, has hired Todd Carlton as regional president for BNY Mellon Wealth Management with responsibility for leading the firm’s wealth management business in Dallas and Texas overall. Carlton, who steps into a newly created role in the Dallas office, reports to President of U.S. Markets—West David Emmes.

Carlton’s hire underscores the firm’s focus on strengthening its presence in top U.S. wealth markets and is part of a previously announced plan to increase its sales force by 50 percent and add a number of portfolio management and private banking positions. The Dallas office has experienced strong growth since opening in 2009 with a staff of two. By 2012 the staff had increased to 10 and the office moved to a Preston Center location that is three times as large as the original.

“BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s focus on Texas is integral to our long–term growth strategy in key U.S. wealth markets,” said Emmes. “Building on the incredible growth of the past four years, in 2014 we plan to add at least five more professionals in Dallas to sustain the high-quality service we deliver to clients while also gaining new ones.”

Prior to joining BNY Mellon late last year, Carlton was the Texas-area wealth executive at Regions Private Wealth Management in Dallas. Previously, he was vice president of private client services at First Horizon Bank and earlier in his career, he provided personal financial services at JP Morgan Chase and was a financial advisor with UBS Paine Webber.

He has a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Texas Christian University, and an MBA in marketing and strategy from Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. He serves on boards and committees for a variety of charitable and non-profit organizations including Tarrant County College Accounting Department, Whites Chapel United Methodist Church and Carroll Education Foundation. He resides in Southlake, Texas.
