New role created to further develop investment solutions focused on the Asian investor

HONG KONG, August 12, 2013 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment services, has further expanded its Asia-Pacific team with the appointment of Richard Collis as a Managing Director in its investment management business. Based in Hong Kong, Collis reports into Jane Caire, Head of Strategy & Corporate Development for BNY Mellon’s Asia-Pacific investment management business.

In this newly created role, Collis will work alongside Caire in building insurance and pension solutions designed for Asian investors. His arrival is in close proximity to the appointment of Albert Yeh in July who also joined the team as a Managing Director, reporting into Caire, underlining BNY Mellon’s significant growth in the region.

“As we build our business in Asia-Pacific, our goal is to develop a range of genuinely new services specifically for Asian investors,” explained BNY Mellon’s Caire. To achieve this, we are deepening our range of expertise through the appointment of a number of product and sector experts, like Richard and Albert, to help identify the right opportunities, design a strategy for how we will address them, and transform these ideas into truly compelling solutions.”

Caire added: “The global shift in aging demographics and the related social strains for retirement incomes has been well documented. This issue is especially relevant in Asia-Pacific where all markets are facing significant pension shortfalls. Richard’s appointment will help us develop innovative and differentiated solutions to assist insurance and pension providers help their clients plan for wealth creation and income for a higher quality of life in retirement.”

Collis has over 25 years financial services experience and joins BNY Mellon from MetLife where he was primarily responsible for growing the company’s ‘bancassurance’ business across Asia-Pacific. He joined MetLife’s Sydney office in 2005 following the Travelers acquisition by MetLife and relocated to Hong Kong in 2007. Prior to MetLife, Collis has worked in Australia with Citigroup Australia and Zurich Financial Services.
