BNY Mellon Appoints Dean Sakati as Head of Strategy and Business Development for Securities Financing Program

NEW YORK and BOSTON, April 1, 2013 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment servicing, has appointed Dean Sakati to develop and implement business strategy in the newly created position of Head of Strategy and Business Development for Securities Finance within the company’s Global Collateral Services business.

Sakati, is based in Boston and will report to Mike McAuley, managing director of product and strategy for Securities Finance at BNY Mellon.

“Dean brings a wealth of experience in developing and implementing organic business strategies, forming business partnerships and making strategic acquisitions," said Nadine Chakar, executive vice president and head of product development and strategy for BNY Mellon’s Global Collateral Services business. “The scale of regulatory and market change that we are seeing around the world means that we must continue to invest and innovate to deliver new solutions both within the collateral space and across the entire investment lifecycle.”

Sakati joins BNY Mellon from AXOPA, where he was one of the founders of a buy-side focused company that brings together leading financial trading technologies to help clients through the investment management process. Previously, Sakati was a member of State Street Global Markets’ Executive Management Group, where he served as Chief Strategy and Administration Officer, leading strategy development, finance, risk management and administration.

Sakati earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from State University of New York-Oswego and his master’s in business administration from Boston College's Carroll School of Management. Sakati is also a retired U.S. Army officer, having served 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
