Holger Fahrinkrug Appointed Chief Economist at Meriten Investment Management

New Appointment Aims to Drive BNY Mellon Investment Manager's Growth

London, Düsseldorf, 14 January 2013 — Meriten Investment Management, BNY Mellon's German-based investment manager, has announced the appointment of Holger Fahrinkrug as chief economist. Fahrinkrug, who will report to Werner Taiber, chief executive officer of Meriten, is scheduled to start in February 2013.

“Holger Fahrinkrug brings 20 years' of research and consulting experience to Meriten,” said Taiber. “His experience in advising international investors on economic issues and financial markets will translate into important insights for our clients.”

Fahrinkrug joins Meriten from Portigon/WestLB AG where he was chief economist and head of research, overseeing the bank's research activities on all asset classes and regions. Prior to joining Portigon, Fahrinkrug was a senior economist at UBS‘ German office and a member of the bank's European economics team, specialising in the analysis of the region's economy, policy making and politics. He succeeds Dr. Holger Sandte, who has left the company.
