BNY Mellon Expands Southern California Wealth Management Team

Addition of five professionals marks a year of strong growth for regional office

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, October 2, 2012 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment services, has hired five professionals to fill newly created positions in its expanding wealth management business in Southern California. Tiffany Barbara, Bob Bernstein, Steven Mills and Grace Russak recently joined BNY Mellon Wealth Management, ranked the 8th largest wealth manager in the U.S. by Barron's; Rehan Chaudhry began this past April. Mills reports to Senior Director of Portfolio Management Ben McGloin and the others report to Larry Miles, regional president for Los Angeles.

"The addition of these five new positions crowns a year of very strong growth for our Southern California region, which is one of our firm's fastest growing markets," Miles said. "In the past year our staff has expanded by 10%, and more importantly, year over year our assets under management in the region have grown by more than 20%. We intend to build on that momentum with the strategic addition of key staff in the coming year."

Barbara is a senior portfolio manager based in the firm's Century City office and is a CTFA with more than 20 years of experience in financial services. Previously she was a principal and senior client account manager at Bessemer Trust where she oversaw a team of client account managers and assets totaling more than $1 billion. She earned her bachelor's and MBA from the University of California Los Angeles and lives in Manhattan Beach, California, with her husband and three children.

Bernstein, who also has more than 20 years of investment experience, is a senior portfolio manager also based in Century City. He previously was chief investment officer of Four Corners Capital Management, owned by Macquarie Funds Group, and was one of three managing principals who built a $4.5 billion asset management business. He earned his bachelor's from Hofstra University in New York, an MBA from the University of Chicago and is a CFA charter holder. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife and two children.

Chaudhry, who joined BNY Mellon in April, is a senior director for business development and is based in Century City. Prior to joining BNY Mellon, he served in progressively responsible positions with JP Morgan culminating with responsibility for more than 50 high net-worth client relationships. He earned a bachelor's in business administration from LaSalle University in Pennsylvania and is a board member of New Ground, a Muslim-Jewish partnership to develop leaders of diverse backgrounds. He lives in Carthay Circle with his wife Anaid.

Mills is a senior portfolio manager based in Newport Beach. Prior to joining the company, he was senior vice president and senior client account manager at Bessemer Trust where he supervised non-profit and family relationships valued at more than $600 million. He earned his bachelor's degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York and a dual Juris Doctor—MBA from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Mills is a member of the West Point Society of Orange County and lives in Newport Coast, California.

Russak, who has more than 25 years of professional experience, is a senior director for business development based in the company's Century City office. She previously served for 15 years with the Whittier Trust company, most recently as a senior vice president and director of the company's advisory services department and the art advisory services group. She earned her bachelor's degree from Smith College in Massachusetts, an MBA in strategy from Claremont Graduate University in California and is a CFTA. She lives in Pasadena with her husband and has three grown daughters. She is actively involved in several community organizations including the Blue Ribbon of the Music Center and the Society of Fellows of the Huntington Library.
