Former Fannie Mae executive named to new senior operations role

Will oversee operational activities in global delivery centers

NEW YORK, June 7, 2012 — BNY Mellon, the global leader in investment management and investment services, has named Edward Watson as executive vice president and chief operations officer. In this newly-created position, he will be a member of the company's global Operating Committee and report to Kurt D. Woetzel, BNY Mellon's head of global operations and technology and chief administrative officer. Watson, 51, most recently was executive vice president for operations, technology and general services for Fannie Mae.

"Ed's new role is key to driving operational excellence across our global organization," Woetzel said. "In addition to leading the centralization of certain operations, Ed will oversee operational activities in our global delivery centers and have responsibility for operations functions that today reside in our businesses."

In his role at Fannie Mae, Watson was responsible for all development, infrastructure and operations services across the firm. He also was in charge of corporate facilities and security and most recently was named to Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2012. Watson previously served as global head of capital markets operations and ICG business services at Citigroup and held senior positions at Republic Bank and Shearson Lehman Brothers. A native of Long Island, NY, Watson has a master's degree in business administration from Hofstra University and a bachelor's degree in accounting from St. John's University.
