Sales Director Yolanda Plaza-Charres to expand the company’s services to high net-worth clients throughout the region

NEW YORK, January 31, 2012 — BNY Mellon’s focus on serving its international wealth management clients has sharpened further with the appointment of Yolanda Plaza-Charres as a Sales Director for Latin America. She will be responsible for sales and relationship management throughout the Latin American region, will report to Latin America Region Head for International Wealth Management Isaac Barrocas and work closely with the head of Institutional Client Development, Paul Sari.

Plaza-Charres brings 20 years of experience and deep knowledge of the asset management business to this newly-created role at BNY Mellon. She has successfully created and executed strategies for the distribution of asset management products in the Latin American region at Merrill Lynch and BlackRock.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Plaza-Charres held a number of progressively responsible positions with BlackRock. She was most recently director for the firm’s private banking channel for the Americas region. In that role she developed and executed a successful strategy for growing market share in an underperforming sales territory.

Plaza-Charres will focus on covering all internal BNY Mellon channels with businesses in the region, enriching relationships with key clients and partners in the region and bolstering the corporate brand.

“Some estimates peg the value of cross-border business at about $7 trillion globally with expectations that it will grow at about 7% per year over the next five years, “ Barrocas said. “BNY Mellon enjoys a strong global reputation and has a formidable array of offerings in international asset management, fiduciary and wealth management services. The company is well positioned to serve new clients in the region and we will benefit from Yolanda’s energy and expertise as we drive our growth.”

Plaza-Charres earned a B.A. in public policy at the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business Management at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. She also received her Certified Investment Management Analyst SM from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
