BNY Mellon Equity Manager Aims to Build on Strong Foundation

LONDON & NEW YORK, September 21, 2011 — The Boston Company Asset Management LLC, part of BNY Mellon Asset Management, has announced several enhancements to its leadership team in order to more efficiently leverage strengths and position the firm for future growth. Bart Grenier, chief executive officer, is to take on the additional role of chief investment officer. Joe Gennaco will become president in addition to his role as chief operating officer. John Truschel, currently chief investment officer, is to lead a newly created team within the firm as Global Head of Investment Strategy.

Grenier joined The Boston Company in June as chief executive officer. He had been chief investment officer and global head of institutional investments at DB Advisors, part of Deutsche Asset Management. Previously, he worked for 14 years at Fidelity Management & Research Co., where he was a senior vice president overseeing a $500 billion investment platform. Regarding his expanded role, Bart Grenier stated, "I will continue to focus on supplying our investment teams with comprehensive access to top-tier research to provide our clients with best in class global asset management. This is a persistent priority for the firm and a key area of emphasis."

The expansion of Gennaco's role will give him more day-to-day responsibility for firm management, affording Grenier essential extra time with the investment division.

"Bart's responsibilities have been broadened so The Boston Company can benefit from his demonstrative investment expertise and understanding of what clients need from their investment managers," said Curtis Arledge, chief executive officer of BNY Mellon Investment Management. "Bart has overseen large successful investment platforms, which have delivered impressive results. We believe Bart is the person best qualified to lead the Boston Company's efforts to further the work of its investment teams and to enhance its research platform."

In his new role, John Truschel will lead the combined work of portfolio strategists, product development and portfolio engineering. Bart Grenier commented, "John will work with our clients and investment teams to build market-responsive investment solutions tailored to our clients' investment needs. We'll benefit from his strategic focus and significant experience in this capacity.

"We strive to create value for our clients every day, through our aim to provide the highest quality and most innovative equity management and client support services," summarized Grenier. "The steps we are taking now will build upon the strong foundation already in place."
